That seems plausible; I vaguely remember mentions of Futura.  The other font 
that I definitely remember is Avant Garde, which you'll find on the covers of 
late 1970s manuals (the white, blue, or "chinese red" binders).  Not body text, 
it isn't suitable for that purpose.

BTW, re "ripoff", in the USA font designs are not protected, only font names 
are.  I often jump on people doing legally questionable copying (such as the 
"abandonware" notion); in this case, the copy is perfectly legal.  In the USA 
anyway, other countries may well have different IP laws where fonts are 
concerned.  I assume Canada matches the US rules, though -- given that old 
versions of CorelDraw came with a library of hundreds of fonts, all copies of 
well-known designs with new names (e.g., "Gatineau" instead of "Garamond").
