I can't say anything specific about the Kennedy drives, but most small drives of this type employ a mechanism where the ring is compressed by the hub clamping mechanism to make solid contact with the reel hub. Usually, there's some adjustment for this. It can be as simple as turning the hub latch clockwise or counterclockwise with the hub itself being held stationary. --Chuck
