This sounds like a job for GitHub, and I'd like to help if there's interest.
Make a repo for images, and a separate supplemental repo with
instructions for submission of both images and documentation for each image.
As Peter Ekstrom mentioned, vtserver + XXDP + emulator can also create
hardware-level disk images, and I'm sure some of us have a few of those.
It would be sad if we didn't make sure that both the images and the
generating processes get organized and archived.
