The VT05 was 300 baud the VT05B was 2400 baud.

"dumb"?  Depends on what you mean by that.  It is not a "glass TTY"; the VT05 
has commands similar to the VT52, and early versions of TECO could do full screen editing on one of 
those.  And while 2400 baud is slow by today's standards, it was blindingly fast for those of us 
used to ASR33s or even Silent 700s.
