Thank you for your update on ISOC Indonesia. I have added Irwan
Effendi to the cc list so that he may see your message and my reply to
it.
I would like to make a few general comments and respond specifically to
a couple of your points. First the specific comment.

I officially notified Mr. Purwadi of these general meetings, so they
are neither unofficial nor null and void. I expressed my sincere
desire that Mr. Purwadi should work directly with Mr. Effendi either to
resolve the difference between himself (as the Chair and Chapter
representative) and Mr. Effendi or to conduct the general meeting of
the Chapter as requested by Mr. Effendi.
In addition, I told Mr. Effendi to work with Mr. Purwadi to resolve
their differences or to help Mr. Purwadi conduct the general meeting.
I pointed out to both gentlemen that it would be within a reasonable
interpretation of ISOC procedures for Chapters for Mr. Effendi to
conduct the meeting himself if Mr. Purwadi (as Chair of the Chapter)
was either unable or unwilling to conduct the meeting. If that should
happen, I instructed Mr. Effendi that he was to keep Mr. Purwadi
informed of all activities. This may explain why Mr. Purwadi continued
to receive notices from Mr. Effendi.
Here a few general comments I would like to make about Chapters.
ISOC, as a matter of policy, does not get involved in the operation of
a Chapter. Chapters, and all of their officers members, are expected
to conduct themselves in a professional manner. This includes
providing an opportunity for all differences to be heard, discussed,
and resolved together. Sometimes such differences must be brought
before a General Assembly meeting of all members and decided by vote of
the entire General Assembly.

I would like to call to your attention that Chapters are expected to
hold regular elections and at least annual General Assembly meetings.
Note that the official Bylaws of any Chapter are on file with ISOC.
When a Chapter needs or wants to update its Bylaws, it is required to
submit them to ISOC (Nelson Sanchez <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> for review and
approval, before they can be considered official.
On behalf of ISOC, it is our sincerest wish that Mr. Purwadi and Mr.
Effendi work together to resolve whatever differences may exist. While
I have had numerous communications with Mr. Effendi, I have had but one
communication with Mr. Purwadi. I would much prefer that Mr. Purwadi
and Mr. Effendi be communicating with each other, perhaps with a cc to
me, than for me to be communicating with each of them separately. If
there is anything you can do to help make this communication happen I
would appreciate it.
