This info is more recent than our (original) code and it is also
Solaris-specific (please note the use of STREAMS module, that
handles the UTF-8 magic).

For example, out code base was not 64-bit compliant - many
vendor's CDE implentations didn't have that requirement.

ISO10646 is not UTF-8. Something in the middle must translate it.

For me - it does not even start with locale other with "C", but
maybe something is wrong in my environment.
