Test is now nearly finished and it looks good. Though I had to add
some minor changes for NetBSD and sun and also for the bootstrap stage.
But all platforms are building now without the X11 link. So the directory
imports/x11 could be removed entirely.
Patch will follow soon.

I was confused about what you meant. On Linux and I think the BSD's,
we do not use makedepend at all - we use the compiler to generate deps.
No, the BSDs use makedepend. Only Linux has the better solution.
I still want to get rid of makedepend, because I'm tired to patch it
again and again. Nearly every new compiler or compiler version brings
additional syntax for the preprocessor directives and makedepend has to
be taught about it.
But it's for the time after release.
Yes... We could do it the same way on them for gcc builds at least. I
don't know if clang supports a similar mode of operation for generating
dependencies. Maybe I'll give it a try on fbsd.
We could always use a system installed makedepend instead of our own
too. Not sure if that would cause any problems, would have to try it.
