Unfortunately I know nothing about "X-Win32 18", but maybe I can offer a
clue as to where to look.

When dthello runs, it is waiting for dtwm (the window manager) to
reparent the dthello window.  This lets dthello know the WM is running
and it will then exit.

My "guess" is that dtwm is either not starting for some reason, or it is
crashing.

Check ~/.dt/errorlog, sessionlog, etc and see if there's anything there
providing a clue.

You might also manually try to start /usr/dt/bin/dtwm from one of the
dtterm windows you say appear when dthello times out.
