Dear Open Office.org,

As I have worked IT for a large corporation, on my own I have supported my
parents learning center and any number of friends for their computer
problems/needs. Over the last 3 or so years I have developed the idea of a Home
PC Survival Kit as related to the inexpensive or often free software available
on the Internet. I have assembled a list of "vital" PC Applications that every
PC user must have. The origninal idea was to sell the idea as a fund raiser for
any number of organizatons and groups. I still play amateur baseball and
football.

I have talked to a number of commercial software companies who offer a an
alternative to MS Office. They often offer Word, Excel and PowerPoint
compatible programs. I can license their products for a relatively small fee.

Recently I received authority from Spybot to put on my Home PC Kit their
Anti-Spyware program under the condition that I make note that Spybot is not
profitting from the sale of the CD. I did offer to provide a link on the CD to
Spybots donation web-page.

This gave me the idea that, as this CD is supposed to be the best value with the
best available alternatives to the big name commercial programs, I would inquire
as to under what stipulations I could distribute on my CD Open Office. The Home
PC Kit will also include for a very inexpensive price a commercial security
suite that includes Firewall, Anti-virus and Anito-Spam on the same CD.

With the addition of Open Office, Spybot and couple other related programs as
things come together, this could be the best value on the market available for
the average PC user. It could sell reasonably for $49 or less (mostly due to
the cost of the security suite from the commercial vendor).

I did find a distribution of LUXURIOUSITY OFFICE SUITE that turned out to be
Open Office. They did not include any other related programs outside of the
office suite. It sold for $10.

Please tell me under what guiudelines/stipulations I could distribute Open
Office on my Home PC Kit CD. I would guess that like Spybot it must be
mentioned that Open Office is not profitting from the sale of the CD. Likewise
I would offer a link to any available web-page related to making a donation to
the Open Office project.

I recently did incorporate in my home state of Missouri and have discussed the
idea with Legal Counsel based out of my home city of St. Louis. It is now just
a matter of getting together the necessary "vital" software and getting the CD
into production and on the market to help PC users save a lot of money and
still be productive with their PC's.

Please let me know what I need to do to proceed with the use of Open Office, a
great alternative to MS Office on the Home PC Kit CD.

Sincerely,

Carter Rethwisch
