Open Office is a terrific product; since becoming proficient with Open Office I have not even bothered to reload MS Office!
I agree 100%.
You cannot author a .pdf file with open office; but you may be able to view
some .pdf files with certain components of Open Office. To view .pdf files go
to www.adobe.com and download acrobat reader; it is free. As for authoring .pdf
files; you must buy that software from adobe.
Which version of OpenOffice.org do you use? The current stable version
(2.4.1) is capable of saving any document you create with Writer as a
PDF file. No need to purchase the pricey Adobe software (unless you need
real advanced features not found in OOo).
