That was an example, have you looked at the output of dmesg to be sure
that the CD is actually on hdd? I made that up, and while I doubt anyone
would put the CD and boot disk on the same cable as hda and hdb, I've
heard of some clone manufacturers actually doing that to save the price
of the 2nd cable.
In any case, before you give up on this, do read dmesg and see if the
CD is on hd{something} or is actually being found by ide-scsi as a SCSI
drive.
