Perhaps it is time to upgrade.  A fine young Finnish cs student
once created an operating system around your neck of the woods
that is quite portable.  ;o)

Seriously, it isn't hard to make it portable if you want it to
be.  I don't package RPM packages for Solaris/SunOS so I don't
have that portability problem.
