1 - most people don't add and remove devices so often that this is an
    issue. 
2 - this is what devfs prevents, generating the name from the bus and
    device number.

  Since IDE devices don't really have device numbers as such, (2) isn't
fully effective if you don't use a little common sense about how you add
them. This is the same as WinXX, which will sometimes move your E: CDrom
to F: if you add another, so it's a general problem. Actually, I just
had a thought on how to solve that, let me look at the ide-scsi driver...
