Try accessing your CD-ROM drive as /dev/scd1 instead of
/dev/cdrom or /dev/hdd.
If this works then you can change /dev/cdrom to point to the
correct device (ie: ln -s /dev/scd1 /dev/cdrom).
In my setup /dev/scd0 is the CD-writer and /dev/scd1 is my IDE
CD-ROM.
