I have become motivated to try to make a cd-rw drive act like a hard disk (ie, ext2 filesystem). I scanned FAQs, HOWTOs and the mailing list back to Jan 1, and could not find much other than the kernel (driver?) prevents this. I have downloaded some sources and will be reviewing them for clues, but if anyone has some words of wisdom (like "It's impossible because ...", or "I did this and here is the source", I would appreciate it. Either 2.2 or 2.4 linux kernel is OK. Thanks! -mehaf -- "But little we know until tried how much of the uncontrollable there is in us, urging across glaciers and torrents, and up dangerous heights, let the judgement forbid as it may." -John Muir, 1872
