My apologies to list members Stacy Mader and Alexander "Garca" for

Hi Alexander "Garca",
>Hello, I found this address in the CDRecord home
>page..
>I want yo know if you can answer me some questions ...
I have no connection with cdrecord at all except in asking for help with a
Win9x/NT frontend with the Cygwin port of CDRTOOLS (cdrecord/mkisofs etc).
You will find my post at the SourceForge Discussion Forum Projects - Help
Wanted:

Here is the official CDRecord home page:

>First, How can I get the CDRecord-ProDVD ?
This is the first I've heard cdrecord called by the name "cdrecord-ProDVD".
This may be a separate program written by the same author that has
additional DVD capabilities which the GNU (freeware) program does not have.
Cdrecord (GNU) can read DVD media in a CDR-W drive. It may also be able to
write to DVD media in a CDR-W drive but I have not tried that. I do not
think cdrecord can read or write to/from a DVD-R or DVD-RW drive. I don't
have a DVD drive but if you have one you could at least try it and see.
>Where can I find information about it?
Your guess is as good as mine.
Here is some conflicting info I found on Google:
-------------------------
Cdrecord:
- Now prints a hint about cdrecord-ProDVD if cdrecord encounters
a DVD-R drive but there is no DVD-R support compiled in.
-------------------
Cdrecord-ProDVD supports most SCSI DVD-R's. It works with almost all
flavors of UNIX including FreeBSD, Solaris and Linux. Please note that
mkisofs doesn't yet support the UDF filesystems. However you can create
ISO-9660 filesystems with Rock Ridge extentions on DVD media.
--------------------
***They must be two different programs?
>Can I write a DVD using an image made with mkisofs
>(that is using ISO9660 w/RR extensions)?
Mkisofs can create an ISO file with RockRidge extentions.
>If I can, will I be able of writing 4.7 GB? (Using
>ISO9660)
My understanding is that DVD-ROM uses the iso9660/UDF file system but
DVD-video & audio do not.
>How can I know wether a device like Pioneer DVRS201

The CDrecord home page link above has a list of drives that work with
cdrecord but so far most drives work. Download and install cdrtools and try
it out.

Are you using VOLI=id in a .mkisofsrc file as part of volume descriptors or
using it at the command line?

Bill,
I'm using -V=id from the command line.
Stacy.
