The last test I did is about half a year ago and this GNU tar was definitely
 _not_ POSIX compliant.

It is most unlikely that GNUtar now is POSIX compliant as the internal structure
of GNU tar is just junk and it would be a hard time to fix GNU tar.

NOTE that I try to create my tar archives in a way that avoid GNU tar problems.
