Hi Jrg,
Thanks for your response.
I just tried readcd. It said "I/O error. Cannot read source disk." when I
chose 11:read disk.
I'm sure this message was caused by "mount -r /dev/dsk/c1t4d0s2 /mnt".
Follow is a summary of my tests. I think I'm totally screwed up.
(cdrw is a tool comes with solaris 8. I tested both cdrecord and cdrw.)
==============================
Hardware:
Plextor external CDR 12x10x32 S,
SunBlade 100 with a PCI SCSI card, and a 68-50 SCSI cable.
Software:
cdrw;
mkisofs ver 1.13
cdrecord ver 1.10
SCHILYscg.sparc with scg-sparcv9-sol2.7.beta
SCHILYfbk.sparc with fbk.sparcv9.sol2.8
After I installed all the above software, I rebooted the SUN Blade with
option -r, then I stopped the volmgt.
Then:
1. cdrw -l
Looking for CD devices...
Node | Connected Device | Device type
----------------------+--------------------------------+-----------------
/dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2 | LITEON CD-ROM LTN485S JOU2 | CD Reader
/dev/rdsk/c1t4d0s2 | PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W1210S 1.02 | CD Reader/Writer
2. cdrecord -scanbus
0,4,0 4) 'PLEXTOR ' 'CD-R PX-W1210S' '1.02' Removable CD-ROM
0,7,0 7) HOST ADAPTOR
3. cdrecord -msinfo # I set CDR_DEVICE=0,4,0 to my ENV.
Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes it says:
cdrecord: Drive needs to reload the media to return to proper status.
4. mkisofs -R -o img.raw foo
5. mount -F fbk -o ro,type=hsfs /dev/fbk0:img.raw /mnt
ls /mnt; # I can the content of this image.
6. cdrecord -v speed=4 img.raw
# I don't want list the whole message. It's too long and no
warning/error.
7. mount -r /dev/dsk/c1t4d0s2 /mnt
I've never been able to mount anything(either damaged CDs or some good
CDs I created before) from this CDRdrive, even though I turn on the jumper
"BLOCK". It said this could enable the normal CD-ROM function with this
Plextor CD burner.
I got the following error messages by dmesg:

8. I tested cdrw with the same image file. I also did some CD duplication
by "dd if=/dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2 of=<cdimg>" ( I'm not sure if this is the
right way, but I could read the content from the cdimg file) and
"cdrecord".
Anyway, I can't read anything back, even with readcd command.
=============================================
Thank you very much for your patience, and I appreciate any suggestions you
could give to me.
Regards,
Jerry.

NO, it is not even in the Plexot manuals...
.. but are you shure this is not caused by the volume management
finding a blank media?
Did you try to run readcd on the drive?
