Note that DVD+RW media is true random write access media meaning that it
can house arbitrary file system (just like DVD-RAM). DVD+RW media has no
notion of tracks, sessions, etc. so that cdrecord[-ProDVD] wouldn't know
what's proper thing to do.

What I've been working on for last few days is (linux) kernel support
for DVD+RW media which makes it possible to use plain unix dd (or sdd if
you prefer:-) to "burn" DVD+RW media (or mount it as read-write
filesystem) as well as on utility to format DVD+RW media and a script to
grow isofs (no sessions, remember).

Note that I've avoided to write "DVD+RW drive" but used "DVD+RW media"
every time instead. Those drives (well, I can speak for HP dvd100i only,
but all three are surely same) changing their behaviour depending on
which media is currently in. So that when you put a CD-R(W) disk in it
becomes indistinguishable (well, when it comes to CD-R(W) burning) from
generic MMC CD recorder and plain cdrecord would be the one to use.

Andy.
