How do I know if the drive is really burning at 24x? Because when i burn an
650MB image on a CDR with cdrecord speed=24 ... it take around 440sec to
burn it (+20 sec for fixating). 440sec, so i guess it's writing at only 10
speed or so, although cdrecord says "burning at 24x". Of course it could be
the media not supporting speeds higher than 10x, but is there a way to see
the speed at which the drive actually burn.

How can i see if the ultra dma is activated in linux. When i check with
hdparm i get:
[root@alpha /root]# hdparm -i /dev/hda

/dev/hda:

 Model=PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W2410A, FwRev=1.02, SerialNo=342481
 Config={ Fixed Removeable DTR<=5Mbs DTR>10Mbs nonMagnetic }
 RawCHS=0/0/0, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=0
 BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=0
 (maybe): CurCHS=0/0/0, CurSects=0, LBA=yes, LBAsects=0
 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:180,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120}
 PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4
 DMA modes: sdma0 sdma1 sdma2 mdma0 mdma1 *mdma2 udma0 udma1 udma2

I suppose that * means the active transfer mode?

Thanx,
Marc Gregoire
