The system will produce copies using CloneCD under Win95,
so we know that there is no problem with the hardware.

The burner is on the list of those that "have been reported
to work or should work" with Linux/cdrecord:

  atapi: 1
  Device type : Removable CD-ROM
  Version : 0
  Response Format: 1
  Vendor_info : 'MITSUMI '
  Identifikation : 'CR-4801TE '
  Revision : '2.01'
Device seems to be: Philips CDD-522.
  Using generic SCSI-3/mmc CD-R driver (mmc_cdr).

cdrecord appears to get the correct media information:

  ATIP info from disk:
    Indicated writing power: 4
    Is not unrestricted
    Is not erasable
Disk sub type: Medium Type B, low Beta category (B-) (4)
ATIP start of lead in: -11751 (97:25/24)
ATIP start of lead out: 359849 (79:59/74)
Disk type: Long strategy type (Cyanine, AZO or similar)
  Manuf. index: 8
  Manufacturer: Hitachi Maxell, Ltd.

Then we get a bunch of error messages:

cdrecord: Input/output error. read disk info: scsi sendcmd: no error
  CDB: 51 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 04 00
  status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION)
  Sense Bytes: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 06 00 00 00 00 02 00
Sense Key: 0x3 Medium Error, Segment 0
Sense Code: 0x02 Qual 0x00 (no seek complete) Fru 0x0
Sense flags: Blk 0 (not valid)
cmd finished after 137.204s timeout 240s
  cdrecord: Cannot get disk type.

Can anyone explain what is going on here? Is this possibly
a bug in cdrecord?

Thank you,

Art,
