Hello,

I got a new Pioneer DVR-106 yesterday. I enabled SCSI emulation just the way i
am supposed to, and also succeeded in formatting a virgin DVD+RW medium and
burning data on it, to my delight it was readable on all tested computers,
including on windows machines. I started experimenting a bit with the +RW
burning - but after a while I got this error, whenever I tried to add data to
a disk after formating:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] videos $ dvd+rw-format /dev/sr0
* DVDRW format utility by <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, version 4.4.
* 4.7GB DVD+RW media detected.
- - [can't READ DISC INFORMATION]
[EMAIL PROTECTED] videos $

also writing to the disk failed:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] videos $ growisofs -Z /dev/sr0 -R -J \
./Ice.Age.\(2002\).DiAMOND.ShareReactor.avi
Executing 'mkisofs -R -J ./Ice.Age.(2002).DiAMOND.ShareReactor.avi |
builtin_dd of=/dev/sr0 obs=32k seek=0'
:-[ LBA=0h, SENSE KEY=3h/ASC=57h/ASCQ=00h ]
:-( write failed: Input/output error
[EMAIL PROTECTED] videos $ growisofs -M /dev/sr0 -R -J \
./Ice.Age.\(2002\).DiAMOND.ShareReactor.avi
:-( unable to pread64(2) primary volume descriptor: Input/output error
    you most likely want to use -Z option.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] videos $

I must have only formatted it 3-4 times. The problems started, when I made a
second session with the -M switch in growisofs.
Is there any way to recover this medium?
