Hi all, I've made a patch to dvd+rw-booktype to allow bitsetting on LG DVDRAM GSA-4163B, and possibly 4120B and/or 4160B. You can get the patch from http://www.sci.fi/~syrjala/dvd/
I got the details from the Windows bitset tool http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~noe/Bitsetting/ I've only tested it on my 4163B (firmware A102 and A103). I don't know if it will work on 4120B or 4160B since I could not find any definitive information about their bitsetting capabilities. The Windows tool's source code has some firmware version checks for those drives but I didn't put them in my patch. You can change booktype for DVD+R or DVD+R DL discs. For DVD+R discs you can choose DVD+R or DVD-ROM booktype and for DL discs you can choose DVD+R DL or DVD-ROM booktype. Those restrictions were present in the Windows utility source. I haven't tested what will happen if you try to tell the drive to use some other booktype. Unfortunately you can't change the booktype for DVD+RW discs. If you try it on Linux 2.6 you need to be root since the SCSI command filter won't allow unknown commands from normal users.
