Hi, > thank you very much for pointing out such a source of quality discos. I > never knew they existed.
The actual info source is the search engine (Google in my case). The CD rumor pages are of mixed usefuleness. Always check twice. > How do you get from: > RITEK/D01 To RITEK...D01? Each program and each rumor page has own ways to produce an ID string from the MMC media type data. Those MMC data vary from media type to media type and often consist of more than one text component. The text components have to be glued together to a single id text. Thus we produce slightly different results. I assume "RITEK...D01" is composed from "RITEK\0\0\0" and "D01" out of reply fields of MMC command READ DISC STRUCTURE. > Mounted Media: 10h, DVD-ROM > Media ID: TYG11 The drive reports DVD-ROM but obviously it cannot be a real DVD-ROM because those have no media id. This often happens when the media is closed. TYG is Taiyo Yuden Co. Ltd. Google finds me TY(TaiyoYuden) MIJ DVD-R DL 8x "TYG11" "TYG11" seems to be the content of the first id component of DVD-R. The second component is obviously empty. (ECMA-279 describes a third component which seems to be used for other purposes meanwhile.) In dvd+rw-mediainfo 7.1 i only see "Media ID:" lines which print both components, empty or not. So i wonder why it does not report Media ID: TYG11/ DVD-R DL is incapable of multi-session. This explains why it is closed now. On other drives it might appear as closed DVD-R DL rather than as DVD-ROM. Have a nice day :) Thomas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [email protected] Archive: http://lists.debian.org/[email protected]
