Hi, > Hi, I'm new to this project
We aren't actually a project here. Rather a chat room. > On the CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW part, I guess it's almost everything ok, > but on BD-R/RE I still don't know exactly what do I have to do. > So I started to search some open source BD burners to see if I could > know how to do it, and I've found this list. You did not mention DVD+R, DVD+RW, and DVD-RAM. Actually BD-R can be handled much like DVD+R. BD-RE is much like DVD-RAM. Similar to DVD+RW or formatted DVD-RW. > So, basically I came to ask if anyone of you guys could give me and > overall view on how the writing on BD works. My knowledge on SCSI/MMC level is recorded in http://libburnia-project.org/browser/libburn/trunk/doc/cookbook.txt See chapters - Overwriteable DVD Cookbook (DVD-RAM, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, BD-RE) - BD-R Cookbook You will need copies of MMC-5 and SPC-3. There are drafts around in the internet. Else you can buy them as PDF for 60 USD each from INCITS. (A few years ago the drafts were free. Later one could buy final versions for 30 USD. Now they want 60. Grrr.) Easiest hands-on example are the programs of dvd+rw-tools: growisofs, dvd+rw-format, dvd+rw-mediainfo. (Beware of the BD-R bug, which bites if you submit a blank unformatted BD-R to growisofs. It will format it but still have memorized that it is unformatted. So an inappropriate MMC command will be sent at the end of writing.) Have a nice day :) Thomas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
