I give here some feedback on what is happening around the animesh animation.

I just commited a new 'LookAt' controller, that is an animation node that
tries to make a bone look at a target. I also added a new test application
called 'avatartest' that is designed to test and demonstrate the animesh
animations. So, you can see the 'LookAt' controller in action by launching
'avatartest' and see Frankie seeming really interested by you.

>From a psychological point of view, this 'LookAt' controller is quite
interesting because of the fact that an animated mesh looking at you gives
quickly the impression that the mesh is alive.

The controller is rather complete and works pretty well in many situations
but will need further tweaking for some specific cases. I've not yet
written the loader neither.
