; Summary: eMMC/SSD file system tuning and performance ; Proposer: Tim Bird - Sony Network Entertainment
== Description == I have seen a number of good presentations over the last year, regarding efforts to tune file systems for eMMC or SSD media. However, I have not seen a lot of concrete suggestions for code changes in the kernel, or for tuning changes for existing kernels that will enhance performance. This project would consist of benchmarking a few different filesystems on SSDs, with different performance tuning options, and producing a document to describe filesystem tuning parameters and methods for flash media. == Related work == * Arnd Bergmann's work on Optimizing Cheap Flash Media: ** http://lwn.net/Articles/428584/ ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DilhvJy6Fc - Arnd's presentation at ELC Europe 2012 * Android on eMMC ; Optimizing for Performance ** Tom Foy presentation at Android Builders Summit 2012 ** https://events.linuxfoundation.org/images/stories/pdf/lf_abs12_foy.pdf == Scope == 2-4 weeks for benchmarking 2 weeks for creating recommendations document == Contractor Candidates == none currently == Comments == [[Category:Project proposals 2012]] _______________________________________________ Celinux-dev mailing list Celinux-dev@lists.celinuxforum.org https://lists.celinuxforum.org/mailman/listinfo/celinux-dev
