Hello embedded Linux developers,

Richard Weinberger has recently submitted a set of patches to add
"fastmap" scanning to UBIFS, so that an UBI attach operation can
be done much more quickly. This is related to contract work funded
by the CE Workgroup to improve UBIFS mount times.

At http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=133710204228214&w=2 Richard provides
some benchmark numbers showing the improvements. (They are very good).
This is also the first message in his v4 release of the patches.

If you are using UBIFS in your products, and care about bootup time,
you should definitely go check out these patches. Please test them and
send any bug reports or other feedback to Richard on the kernel mailing list.

Thanks,
 -- Tim

Thanks Shmulik - I appreciate any help as much as Richard. I am busy and
my job now has nothing to do with MTD/UBI/UBIFS, and I have limited time
for review.

There were many people who wanted faster UBI, and I'd ask them to
participate now - review, test, etc.
