So yes, they are already meddling with Chrysler, and they will meddle with GM. Since I have no confidence in them, I will be unlikely to buy whatever vehicles they offer. It doesn't matter the level of government involvement, some people will not buy the government cars.
I agree that it is cause for concern. And, realistically, with the government owning GM, even if they usually choose ot do nothing they are in a sense passively condoning certain behaviors.
But, I don't think we actually have any hard evidence that the government is actually applying biased metrics. Isn't that one of the things the Left does, take an isolated "suggestive" factoid and assert it as proof of a government conspiracy -- rather than merely reason to watch carefully?
Then again, I stopped buying American cars a decade ago, about the time I started purchasing Consumer Reports, so I'm not sure exactly what difference any of this makes...
