It could be statistics, but I believe that I saw that the Republican/Democratic Chrysler split is something like 10/1, not 500/1. however, some of the local closings are very debatable. Some of them even go against the meme. A family that has been in the car business for 85 years down here is losing one of their dealerships: Huffines Chrysler Jeep Kia in Denton is about to become Huffines Kia in Denton. Contrary to the meme, their Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealerships in Lewisville and Plano are not being closed. The Bankston group closed their Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership in Frisco, TX before the dealers were trimmed down. I do find the case of the dealerships owned by Mack McLarty, Clinton's former chief of staff, to be among the most curious. Not only is the group not losing a single dealership, most, if not all, of their competing Chrysler dealerships in the same market with them are being closed. In some of these instances, McLarty does not have the top sales rank. That distinction belongs to the dealers being closed. That just doesn't seem right, and has the appearances, at least, of blatant cronyism. It doesn't matter the level of government involvement, some people will not buy the government cars.  I agree that it is cause for concern. And, realistically, with the government owning GM, even if they usually choose ot do nothing they are in a sense passively condoning certain behaviors. But, I don't think we actually have any hard evidence that the government is actually applying biased metrics. Isn't that one of the things the Left does, take an isolated "suggestive" factoid and assert it as proof of a government conspiracy -- rather than merely reason to watch carefully?
