I think identification of some kind of viable Liberal Hinduism would be a real service. Personally, my hope would be to see such Hinduism become consciously open to ideas and values from Christianity and Buddhism, but there are at least a dozen other considerations. I wonder where to look for it, where are "proto-examples" found in today's world ? FYI, I've tried, in private correspondence, to persuade the BJP honcho in Canada to move in this direction, but so far no overt reply. Tea leaves --what he chooses to publish in his newsletter-- may indicate some degree of a shift in his outlook, but this is a "slender reed" to base conclusions on if there ever was a slender reed.
