I think you hit on an interesting point I've wanted to mention before. From what I can tell, "fundamentalist Hinduism" could be characterized as "inherently nationalistic" --- just like fundamentalist Christianity is inherently anti-intellectual, and fundamentalist Islam is inherently imperialistic.
