In that particular context, I wasn't defending *all* religion. I was simply
defending the Christian (and by implication, Jewish) Scriptures. For that
matter, I think scholarly Mormons have a similar approach to dealing with their
difficulties.
I actually have no idea how scholarly Muslims -- is there such a breed? -- deal
with (apparent) contradictions within Islam. Though it does seem like some
