From what I saw, the existing community is strong, and for now I don't see what could change that, so I keep my optimism ;-), plus I read that Ubuntu will provide enterprise support on the 14.04 LTS, we will see how it will evolve. I think RedHat interest in Ceph is very market oriented, in the way to provide more confident and insurance to their actual and potential ongoing enterprise customers, to be more attractive. They have just added a big rope on their bow ... and it's a win/win FMPOV. Well, just my 2 cents.
