BABA MWALEMBA -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Kayakangu Malange Sent: Wednesday, March 11, 2009 1:26 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [!! SPAM] {CEZOBAL} Re: On Elections.. The reason why some of us have shown interest is the result of a thorough thought process on internal and external issues that affect Basket Ball. We all agree there has been a great step in reviving BaskeBall in Central region and on national scale as well. we thank the pioneers and the political will that drove the game to this state. However i truly believe that ,there is need for more institutionalisation and bringing the organisational structures that respond to the external needs as we have seen complex factors e.g. level of skill of players, players attitude towards the game, grassroot structures, new breed of players, funding issues. The key internal issue has been personalisation of the structure of cezebal, issues of dynamism leadership. people need to have broader view of the game & aim to serve the people whom we actually claim to serve. Money: The real problem is not money or funds because but rather issues of pessismism for investors in Cezebal for there returns. this pessismism has come about because of lack these institutional issues and the stucture to bring about performance that makes it reasonable for people to sponsor basketball. for example there was a case of Basketball National tourney in Lilongwe, where there was a case of failed leadership. the media emphasised the negativity on the issue rather vice versa & who would come to watch? i think its high time where we need tio have people with sound minds that would lay things as there are and really going to improve the image of basketball & not to hold hostage the people the aim to serve. with all due respect, this calls for a selfless attitude that is a product of servitude mentatilities in peoples institutional value( because its a life style and u dont pretend) . those who pretend to serve time catches up and it ruins the greater cause of the game. hence i agree with King that some people cant take up silent but very strategic roles that help the game. we cant manage to push away for people like that. they have networks that are much needed. Again this game had huge following in schools and colleges. my simple anaylsyis of the economy tells me that secondary and college graduates are most likey to have a form of income? the question is where are these same people who made basket ball a dear game to play? are they no longer patronising Basketball, have they lost the passion? i dont think so, 3 on 3 Basket ball in Sozobal can prove this? cant they pay for somethings for us to provide that home family entartianment? they have children right? where are they? so you tell me we cant become self sufficient in the wrong run? what about the player? if you ask him what he is looking for is court with supporters that can a ppreiciate the hard work on the court. you can be good but with no supporters to complment you where is the fun? Consitutional Issues: I agree with Herbert on issues of office & function. basically the office structures are adaptable and we could manage the process without violating the Basmal Constitution. however these are key issue sto look forward to feed in the constitutional review. my appeal to all: The consitution is a guiding framework of our governing body etc it can be changed based on solid grounds. and i am optmistic when the time is ripe it would accomodate the changes in the environment we find ourselves today. Implication of this: People will need to come forward with the right skills attributes and personal qualities. why? the world order will take people with personal initiatives, who see the challenges and become part of the solution to the challenge. yes for all of you its a good chance for a marketable resume when you embark in entreprebeurial endeavours, careers, personal initiatives. people will embrace you because you value work & you are innovative. Ntchito si ichepa. the way to build basketbal we all know that we dont have an income from this, but yes we could use the very same challenge for members and can derive income from some wher but in long run would contribute to Basketball. Yes for everything people will ask you what have you done for the basket ball commuinty? you can experince breakthrough in you endeavors because of the challenge that lies ahead of us. See through dead or sick situations & be part of the solution. this is my challenge to you. Conclusion Basketball is small compared to other sports in Malawi, hence the opportunity to unite and move forward to read the simple economics of our society, bring out out innovative entertainment with branding, precise marketing & targeting. This kind of info & knowldge belongs to everyone concerned with Basket Ball. There is nothing special about those who know because solutions dont lie with them. there are more people i see everyday on the court who could do tremendous stuff for us. lets give tthem enabling environment to show case their talents. this calls for paradim shift in our leadership thinking from self to servitude attitude, of voluntary to that of commercilisation, value one anothers contribution with respect & mutual understanding( relationship will always need to be worked on), respecting people entrusted with offices todeliver and enable them to do so by providing the right environment. Remeber its an opportunity for personal growth as well and people ( the Nation) and acroos are watching. think Global and act local, these are wonderfull opportunities for our generation in basketbal and what it could contribute to Malawi economic development in longrun. think big and take the right steps to walk right into the vision. there is enough for evreyone to participate. Yes indeed History will really point out what we have done for the wonderful game. this comes from heart because i had dreams to play Pro ball here in malawi. and i know there is some kid right there who share the same dream. my elders in there time tried the thought process could take them to a certain level. i missed out on the playing part, however some kid can bless Jesus that Yes he will play pro ball one day here in Malawi. with these few comments i say bring on the challenge we are here. Roy you have my support to take this game to new heights where it belongs. --- On Wed, 3/11/09, Daud Suleman <[email protected]> wrote: From: Daud Suleman <[email protected]> Subject: {CEZOBAL} Re: On Elections.. To: [email protected] Date: Wednesday, March 11, 2009, 12:36 AM Morning, what Herbert has highlighted makes sense, its about time we had reasonable positions that are addressing specifics in the game. Instead of the usual setup, which may have been appropriate when that setup was devised. Lets give people full responsibility instead of deputising others then they have all the drive and control of the area. Marketin, fundraising/sponsorship, PR,accounting, technical, youth development:these are some of the areas that our game needs competent people to handle and i would believe that if we can get people to take up these roles,we could move ahead. i understand and respect issues of BASMAL constituional requirements but i believe they can changed to suit the enviroment. yemwe uja, Sule On 3/11/09, Chidaya, Herbert <[email protected]> wrote: > Kodi mzanga mwalembetsa kwandani chizunguchi.
