This reference does a very good job of comparing ASP with CF 4.0...
Although I would suggest (to you Matthew) that you also do a little more
research into CF 4.5.x and even the upcoming CF 5 and Neo (CF 6) projects.
A lot of new things have happened recently in CF which would also be worth
talking about (ex. a complete re-write of the underlying engine) and a lot
of very cool things are coming (ex. Native DB drivers and Starting with Neo,
all CF code will be converted automatically into Java rather than PCode as
it is now).
In my mind, one of the major advantages of CF (aside from the ease and speed
of development it provides) is the fact that it is so flexible and
extensible right out of the box (Multi-platform, COM, CORBA, LDAP, Beans,
etc.) So, another plus of all Allaire products might be that they are all
now Macromedia products. I'm sure we're all at least a little bit nervous
about what Macromedia is going to do with the Allaire product lines, but
even the most skeptical of us would have to agree that Macromedia does value
cross-platform solutions. So it seems to me that the flexible/extensible
trend will probably continue.
