Talking of teachers, this week's
EEJIT OF THE WEEK AWARD
goes to: J. Harry Westerholm, Principal of Stony Brook School in
Branchburg, New Jersey!!!
Danica Lesko (12) has had a hearing problem ever since a fellow student at
her school set off some fireworks in a hallway. So Danica learned sign
language to communicate. Principal Westerholm threatened to suspend Danica
for "doing sign language after being told it wasn't allowed on the bus". He
said "sign language, or any behaviour, is not permitted if it is going to
cause a disturbance on the bus." Words fail us, and so do signs.
