Wrong. The poppy seeds that are available in the US are sterile, so don't
you don't go out trying to plant any after reading this. I'm not even sure
if the sterilized seeds we can get contain *any* active ingredients of opium.
According to the current drug schedule: opium, codeine, hydrocodone, xanax,
and valium are all less dangerous than marijuana. In fact, they are listed
at an abuse level of medium, with accepted medical uses. Marijuana, on the
other hand, is classified in the "most dangerous with no accepted medical
use" category. Even morphine and cocaine are listed in the "really
dangerous but with accepted medical uses" category. Legal uses and
sentences are generally determined by placement on the drug schedule and
that means that the laws for marijuana are more strict than the laws for
cocaine, morphine, or opium.
