Wow, thanks all for the kind words.
I actually ended up leaving my office yesterday shortly after I sent the
email, I think my boss could see that I wasn't going to be of much use for
the rest of the day, so I was told to go home....
I went to pick up an engagement ring this morning. I folded. I had a
cigarette. When we went to the store 2 months ago, I was cool and collected
when my significant other picked out the ring (yes, a non-traditional
approach, but if you only knew her...), but when it came time to actually
pick it up, well, life just got a little more real. I was talking to the
saleswoman, and the next thing I knew I was standing out in the rain having
a horrible cigarette that I begged off some kid (who didn't look a day over
16).
Then I felt sick.
Then, I remembered, what do I do on weekends to get my mind off the
engagement?
Go to the office!
So here I am,
A lot of $ poorer,
a little closer to marriage,
out of the dirty NYC rain,
and
smiling that a community of people, many of whom I have never met, are
offering kind words.
Thank you all.

So, I'm trying to quit smoking.
It's been less than 24 hours, and I want one. Pretty bad.
Nothing is working right today, the coffee cart guy screwed up twice this
morning, the guy standing to close to me in Times Square is probably still
wondering "What the hell is your problem?", and I did an extended find and
replace in Studio. No big deal, just replace every carriage return with a
comma, and only do it to the file I have open. OK, so why did it just make
3,077 replacements? Maybe because I didn't click on "current document", but
instead "in folder"...
It's only 1:30 and I want to go home. I'm going for coffee and a smoke.
Damn, I guess just coffee...

Thanks,
