Hi Michael,
My multi-media guy said first thing that since the audio was recorded in
stereo (two-track) you'd literally cut your file size in half by recording
in mono instead. That means that you'd probably have to re-record it from
scratch unfortunately.
Additionally, he recommended Mpeg compression if you are only going to be
distributing it via the web. That'd cut the file size down significantly as
well.
(He also mentioned some concepts about bits and kilohertz which were over my
head.)
Sounds like mono (when recording voice only) would be the main issue.
Hope this helps,
Tim

Subject: compressing speech
I've been playing more with some audio-lessons and I can't seem to find a
way to compress these things down. Does anyone know of a good way to take a
simple speech file and reduce its size? 2 meg for a simple talk about
comments is not right.
You can find the file(s) at www.houseoffusion.com/media.
