Adam,
I hear what you're saying, but I do have to note (respectfully) that you
would probably put fear into the minds of those who (not knowing your sweet
self) behold you.
Adam, no one would dare to start up with you. That's not true for everyone.
Of course we should learn to protect ourselves and our families. We should
not rely on the government ONLY to do so. But the laws were made to protect
us from crazy, violent people. And just because we expect those laws to work
doesn't mean we "tremble in a corner." I have heard what it was like for my
family in Europe in my grandmother's time. I certainly don't want that for
my children.
Certainly, Ben escalated things by yelling at this guy. But does that give
this guy the right to start beating him up? Words and fists do not equate.
