I would recommend you do give some of your attention to the SOAP and .Net
architecture. No matter what the end of Microsoft is, whatever information
they propagate would be useful in somewhat way to inculcate into our
development methodologies. It does not hurt learning new tricks, just make
sure you don't get addicted to it. Just select the lessons from such
architecture and one way or another it would be useful without having to
actually embrace MS products.

As for me I do CF, ASP, XML, and other stuff which are mostly non-Microsoft.
