No seriously, if you are truly 'serious' about becoming a better CF
programmer and learn a ton of great advanced coding techniques and best
practices in a structured environment where they take care of your every
whim and need, then you should look a little further into Adam's bootcamps.
It was worth every penny and minute I spent in Atlanta and I'm looking
forward to going back for another.
I'm not talking about taking a cram class for taking the test, I'm talking
about really hunkering down and learning how to put CF through it's paces,
learning stored procedures, learning how to make your CF app perform like
the steamlined machine it should be. You get a bunch of real life examples
and you have the instructors at your beck and call for any questions you
have along the way. Plus they feed you like kings and queens along the way!
<grin>
Training is not for everyone, as there are many people who prefer to be
self-motivated and self-taught, but if the classroom environment is what you
are looking for, and you need the bit of prodding that an instructor will
give you, then go to the bootcamp.
Cheers all,
Erika

Hi,
I just passed the certification test this morning with a very high score and
earned the "Advanced Certified ColdFusion 5.0 Developer" title. I didn't
take any training classes, but there are a few good books, internet sites,
and programs that may help you. A good book is Ben Forta's "Certified
ColdFusion Developer 4.5 Study Guide." The author's website at forta.com
has some practice tests that really test your knowledge. A good program to
use is CF_BUSTER, which gives 61-question practice tests *very* similar to
the real exam. I didn't buy the whole program, so I could only access 61
questions, while the full version has over 500 in its database. A good
internet site is http://www.cfcertification.com/, which has some practice
questions and study guidelines.
Overall, I don't think you really need training to become certified, you
just need to do your homework by studying CF books and websites.
