They say he used the university's bandwidth, which has a cost attached to it,
illegally and for his own and non university
purposes.
so they charging him for the bandwidth he 'stole' essentially from what i read about
the case before.
Its all a pack of sh** by people that clearly don't have a clue.
But sadly they might have legal grounds to do what they're doing if they frame it as
theft and misuse.
Plus, it could be an attempt to truly set a precedent here and thus open the
floodgates to start charging for stuff on per
use basis etc.
But see above..its really because some administrative jackass didn't have a clue.And
the law being an ass the poor guy might
really get sent to jail.

He is being prosecuted for installing the distributed.net client on
computers at schools in the State of Georgia? How is that a felony? It
doesn't actually say that is the reason he is being prosecuted on the web
site, just that he is.
