Just kidding. Shreveport is a nice city, if you get over how close it is to
Dallas. If you get to take a drive, go down to Natchitoches. They have the
best meat pies there. I day trip to Lafayette would be nice. If you get to
the Lafayette area, check out St. Martinsville. That is the city where many
of the Acadians exiled from Canada landed and became the Cajuns.
You could also get to New Iberia and see the rice mills and other smaller
industries from that area. Avery Island, home of the Tobasco company, is
about 14 miles from New Iberia. Abbeville, Southwest of Lafayette, is a
nice Cajun town with a real small town feel. Very few people speak english
in public there, most speak Cajun French.
