If the SUVs are more dangerous than regular cars, then the insurance premiums will reflect it.
If the SUVs are less fuel efficient, then they will require more gas (1/4 of which we determined is tax already).
But the truth is, whether a car is classified as an SUV or not has little bearing on its safety or gas efficiency.
