Patrick - you've been in my Bravada. You've seen the way I travel - even
the way I drive - would you say I wanted that Bravada for it's looks or
its usefulness? I had a ton of stuff packed into that thing to go down
for that class. I travel that way all the time. Everything but the
kitchen sink. I like to be prepared ;)

I traded in a pickup truck for the Bravada - because I needed room for
passengers and computer equipment. My needs at the time changed. Could I
have used a station wagon? Perhaps - but I got a great deal on the
Bravada. I *DO* prefer the look of an SUV to a station wagon. I'm short.
So I like to sit high up. I blame living on a farm - driving dump trucks
and tractors and combines for that one. LOL

Phil's already stated why we own one. We had one in the UK as well. We
did a LOT of travelling with 2 large dogs and friends and suitcases and
stuff. We loaded it at every opportunity we had. Now we're in a unique
situation where we do not need to commute. So it sits for many days in
the driveway. Unused. Sometimes we only fill it up once a month.

We DEFINITELY didn't get it for looks or EGO. It's a 1991!!! It's got
dings. The paint is dull. The interior is worn. But it gets us from
point A to B when we need to. We've even used it to haul a PALLET of sod
from Home Depot to home. Did you know a pallet of sod JUST fits into a
1991 Explorer? LOLOL. We own it outright of course and she's due to get
a new engine soon. We're looking for another used one now - and fingers
crossed - should be able to have it in a couple weeks. We're looking for
sommething that holds more people. We frequently have guests over and
cramming 6 people and 3 dogs into the Ford doesn't work ...

Anyway - not to be defensive - I'm trying hard not to be. I know there's
a lot of people out there driving Lincoln Navigators to work everyday -
not carpooling. But I also do not want the government regulating my
choice of vehicle. They are already encroaching on a lot of our choices.
Do we really need them regulating every aspect of our lives?
