answer that
I had my dog, Lady for 9 1/2 years. Due to a heart tumor, I had to put her
down last month. It was the hardest thing I have ever done, and I also know
it was the right thing to do. I was there with her every step of the way. Up
until a few days ago, I have been extremely depressed, lonely and just
bursting out into tears at the wierdest things that remind me of her.
But, I had 9 1/2 years of watching her turn from a skittish dog who was
afraid of so much (I got her from the pound as a run away) to a dog that
loved people and would go up to every one she met, tail wagging just saying,
"I know you are going to pet me" (and they did), who I could take hiking
with me off leash and even though she would go pretty far ahead of me, when
she couldn't see me, she would sit and wait, until she did and then bound
off again. She taught me so much, that there is unconditional love in the
world. That love, patience and understanding goes a long way. That a dog
could become the daughter I never had.
The joy and happiness I got from her so outweigh the pain I am going through
now. The sorrow I feel is sometimes overwhelming, but at least I am feeling
something. I have my memories and one of the things I remember most is how
much love I both had for her and she had for me. Its worth it.

I have a dog, a pit bull named rocky, and if I ever lose him, holy shucking
fit, I don't know what ill do... so, I can only imagine how you feel larry,
but someday, ill be there as well. I must say, I feel for ya...
one question, WHY DO WE DO THIS TO OURSELVES?
seriously? is it that the pain is less than the times we have together? or
what? but im not sure.
