Hi,

Here's the situation, I have a IBM ThinkPad i Series Notebook, however, the left bottom corner of the panel is broken (the panel needs replacement), though it is still usable it has lost its appeal.

Two local IBM authorized repair stores indicated that diagnosis costs $80 (non-refundable), parts is usually cheap, labor at $100/100 an hour, could be 2 hours, sounds like about $300, and it could take a week or more to get the job done.   And here's what I'm thinking a new low-end notebook would cost me a mere $600, should I go into the trouble of bringing back the compromised notebook back to life?  One justification is the hard drive's data and programs would be way more than $300/400.

What's your thought or idea?  TIA.
