too...he seems to feel that mercury safety standards are interfering
with power company profits. And yeha. repeal of the Patriot Act would
go quite a ways towards changing my feelings about the president.
I mean.. if I met him at a church dinner or something I'd be polite...
but as a president he is a disaster and I'll really be disgusted if he
is re-elected,
Dana

Well, yeah. What if Bush supported the Kyoto protocol, affirmed his
support for Roe v. Wade, supported stem cell research and delivered
health care for all Americans, backed the renewal of the Assault Weapons
Ban, never cut veteran's benefits or military pay in the middle of a
war, disallowed no-bid contracts, learned to speak in public and think
on his feet, kept his faith to himself, opposed drilling in ANWR,
increased funding to the NEA, never chose Cheney for his VP or Ashcroft
for his AG, never supported "faith-based charities", didn't gleefully
execute everyone on Texas' death row he could get his hands on, came out
against corporate media consolidation, disallowed extension of
grandfathering clauses for major polluters, increased superfund funding,
didn't falsify reports of air quality in Manhattan after 9/11, didn't
cut federal oversight of arsenic in drinking water.... hey, you know,
if, on top of that, he'd balance my checkbook and give me free banjo
lessons, then yeah, I think I could see myself supporting him at that point.
